Category: RABBITS
Product: YQ+
Description: YQ+ contains many unique ingredients plus . . . some we already use in several of our foods. We have used whole plant yucca and are now using Quillaja saponaria. Quillaja is pronounced as (key – eye- ahh).
YQ+ specifically focuses on the gut health defined, by Dr. Peter Cheeke, as from one opening to the other. The theory is that by making the animal healthier from within, they handle stress better, dietary efficiency improves, live birth numbers increase, and young animals have a higher livability percentage.

Active components of yucca include steroidal saponins and polyphenolics such as resveratrol and yuccaols. Because resveratrol and other phenolics occur in the yucca powder, but not in yucca extracts, whole yucca plant powder is more effective than yucca extract, in ammonia control. Saponins may have anti-arthritic effects associated with their anti-protozoal activity and their antinematode activity . Yucca polyphenolics may have several roles in anti-arthritic activity. Yucca phenolics also are antioxidants and free-radical scavengers, which may aid in suppressing Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) that stimulate inflammatory responses. Folk medicine and anecdotal reports suggest that whole yucca plant powder aids in prevention and treatment of arthritis. This use evolved from traditional application of yucca for this purpose by Native Americans.
Yucca and quillaja extracts both lower total and LDL cholesterol levels in hypercholesterolemic humans. It is believed by some that saponins might be effective against protozoal diseases that afflict livestock and poultry, such as coccidiosis. Yucca saponins are as effective as the drug metronidazole in killing giardia tropozoites in the intestine.

Another protozoal area to be investigated is Equine Protozoal Myeloencephalitis (EPM) the resulting properties of which invade the central nervous system tissue, causing fatal neurologic disease. Yucca may kill the damaging sporozoites which generate the protozoan parasites that cause EPM.
The Quillaja saponaria soap bark tree has a long history of medicinal use with the Andean people who used it especially as a treatment for various chest problems. It is the source of quillaja, the extract of which is used as a food additive, as an ingredient in pharmaceuticals, and personal care products. It is used as a foaming agent for drinks. The saponin content of the bark helps to stimulate the production of a more fluid mucous in the airways, thus facilitating the removal of phlegm through coughing. The saponins of this tree are also considered to improve the disburse-ment of vaccine solutions.
Yucca and Quillaja products have traditionally been regarded primarily as sources of saponins. Saponins have diverse biological effects. Yucca is also a good source of polyphenolic compounds, including resveratrol and the yuccaols. These function as anti-inflammatory agents and as antioxidants.

In some tests with certain species, Yucca and quillaja supplements reduced the incidence of stillbirths and may have enhanced the immune function of the weanling animal.

There is more to YQ+ than simply the yucca and quillaja. It is part of a completely balance diet which contains lecithin, live bacteria, and other natural immune builders. It will blend well with an existing diet when fed at the prescribed rate.

The product should be fed at the rate of one-half ounce, per rabbit, chinchilla, cavy or chicken per day. It will retail for approximately $30.00 for the 20lb bucket. Although we have placed some product in the hands of key customers, the most important test just finished was at Texas A&M where YQ+ was shown to be more palatable than the nation’s best selling rabbit supplement, which, oddly enough, Dr. Cheeke helped formulate. However, YQ+ takes a totally different approach and we have had key customers comment that they used it on sick animals and saw noticeable, quick results. YQ+ is available now. The market for this will be animals that are “sick”, need a boost to their immune system, and animals about to be stressed, i.e., going to shows. One suggestion was to feed the product 3 days before a show, during the show, and 3 days after the show. In summary:

Improved Health & Longevity
Aid in Digestion
Improve Respiratory Health
Control Odor and Ammonia
Enhance Immune System

Product: Doe Builder
Description: Doe Builder is a product specially designed to enhance existing King rabbit foods. It is high in protein and higher in calories than existing King rabbit products. Doe Builder may represent a maximum of 35% of the diet. It is ideal for producing more milk, for rebuilding stressed does post lactation, and for providing a caloric boost for bucks needing to gain weight.

Doe Builder is 1400 D.E. Calories/lb and 20% protein. Therefore, if mixed with the 16% Cloverleaf at 35% of the diet, Doe Builder would raise the protein up to 17.4% and the calories/lb up to 1270, a nearly 6% boost. Doe Builder also contains the heat-stable, direct-fed microbials and blends exceptionally well with the other King rabbit foods permitting relatively quick and easy transitional periods.

Doe Builder contains whole plant yucca powder . . . not yucca extract. It also has a natural immune builder and the highly digestible selenium yeast.

Product: King LifeLong Natural Rabbit - 50lbs
Description: LifeLong Natural is an ideal maintenance rabbit food in addition to being excellent for shows. Show rabbits, once their fur has peaked, need slightly less protein and energy. This enables them to maintain their hair coat in a "prime" state slightly longer.

LifeLong also contains lecithin which, when combined with the high level of fiber, may be beneficial in eliminating hairballs. Hairballs are held together by fat. Lecithin emulsifies fat and also enhances skin quality, as does rice bran.

LifeLong contains an unique mixture of live bacteria which survives the heat process of pelleting. This promotes gut health. The special herbal extracts have data supporting the claim that they are a natural alternative to antibiotics.
LifeLong has all the attributes of CloverLeaf and has Vitamin C which is believed to aid in reducing stress, especially during transportation. Vitamin C “neutralizes” free radicals preventing cellular damage.

LifeLong is available in an 18% “Beginner” diet with slightly more calories and calcium than the 15.5% “Natural”.
